Snail Mail No More is a story about two girls Tara and Elizabeth who are best friends and remain friends even though Tara moves. Even though they are far apart they still come to each other with their problems in life and with the best news ever. Tara helps Elizabeth get through all her problems with her dad and Elizabeth helps Tara get through all her problems and fears about having a younger sibling. They're with each other all the way and that's

what makes them TRUE best friends.

My favorite parts of the book are when Elizabeth flies to Ohio to see Tara and later on at the end of the book Tara visits Elizabeth in New Orleans. Those are my favorite parts because even though they are in the same house as each other they still email each other because they sometimes have problems they don't want to talk about in person. They like it better when they just enjoy when they're together and not worry about all these problems and leave it in the world of email. I really like how they do that.

I rated this book a five star because it is an adventure through their hard lives as they stick together from far away. They trust each other with anything.

Taiwan Typhoon: Morakot

The Typhoon Morokat has been the worst storm Taiwan has had for 50 years. The typhoon struck Taiwan on the 9th of August 2009. We studied about this because it has given us the opportunity to study our unit on Mapping. I chose the picture on the right because it shows how the people have to suffer from the cause of the storm. It shows how many people lost their homes and have to stay in a evacuation center. It is related to our Mapping unit because the storm was big and interesting. It made us look at the map to see how the storm attacked Taiwan and deliberately destroyed everything in its path. Many people died in the storm and many people lost relatives. That got our attention. We studied how the storm hit Taiwan and the causes of it. We found pictures and videos on the Internet showing the damage of the storm. The storm also caused a mudslide which buried many people and killed them. One of the videos we saw was taken by an intern on a weather channel. During the storm the intern so happened to be in Taiwan and he took a video. So we studied where he stood when he took the video and it helped us more with our unit. So we learned a lot from this storm. It helped us study well.

INDONESIA EARTHQUAKE! September 2, 2009

The earthquake hit Indonesia on the second of September 2009 at around 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. It was a 7.5. No one expected it to happen. At least not the people. Yesterday at around lunchtime a snake came out of its home. Why? Because animals can feel things happening in nature. Animals like snakes come out of their hole whenever there is a nature disaster about to strike. The cause of this natural disaster is nature. It's just how nature goes. Indonesia is likely to get earthquakes and volcanoe eruptions because Indonesia is on THE RING OF FIRE. THE RING OF FIRE covers lots of spots around the world. THE RING OF FIRE covers Indonesia FULLY. After the earthquake people claimed there will be a tsunami. Indonesia now has a TSUNAMI WARNING. Have you ever thought that there are possible building falls that could have killed thousands of people? Have you ever thought we would have landslides after these earthquakes? You're wrong. Indonesia has a flat surface so even though we have natural disasters that are really bad we won't have any landslides whatsoever. Even though we didn't have any landslides or anything that bad, many people lost homes and family members. Some people got hurt and some people died. And that is all because of an earthquake that hit Indonesia on September 2, 2009.

The Burning is a whole story about the history of the Fear family and what they call the curse that has come between the Goodes and the Fears. It's the story of what happened before Fear Street was built. The story is about Simon Fier trying to change his life and stay away from the curse by changing his last name and moving to New Orleans. He does all he can to be rich. One day he breaks into the debutante party of Angelica Pierce and when he sees her he falls in love. They get married and it shows their life living together and their kids' life and their kids' kids life. It goes on through the family as Nora Goode tells the story by writing it on pieces of paper. Writing every single detail of how she and her husband broke the curse and that it may come again.

My favorite part of the book is when Nora Goode and Daniel Fear tell Simon Fear and his wife Angelica that they married and the fire starts. I love how Nora Goode is wearing the evil pendant that has gone on in the Fear family for generations and by wearing that necklace during the fire sees all the Goodes and Fears that have been killed by the curse. It is really the most thrilling part.

I rated this book a five star because it is thrilling and it digs deep into the history of the Fears and Goodes. Truly awesome.

Elizabeth from Snail Mail No More, By: Paula Danziger & Ann M. Martin

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a character that is neat and focused. Throughout the book the author's show how Elizabeth changes. They change her in sudden ways.

On page 48 Paula Danziger & Ann M. Martin show how much Elizabeth cares that she is following her personal responsibilities and her alcoholic dad doesn't. They show that when Elizabeth says "You know what? All we know for sure is that dad isn't dead. And I wish he were."


On page 63 the authors show how much Elizabeth cares about her sister and how much she loves her. The authors show that when Elizabeth says "What do I like about a sister? Almost everything."


On page 141 the authors show how much Elizabeth is annoyed that Tara is jealous that Elizabeth goes to her new friends for advice before emailing Tara. Even though, Tara does that too. The authors show that when Elizabeth says "Anyway, I'm not mad at you Tara; just annoyed by a couple of things you said. Which I edo recognize is my problem, not yours. But I wanted to tell you how I feel."


So all of these things the authors showed about Elizabeth makes her real. In some ways, a friend. Even though she isn't a real life charater. In my mind, I feel she is.
